Betnovate Scalp Application

Betnovate Scalp is a topical corticosteroid applied directly to the scalp. The active ingredient, betamethasone valerate, is used to treat inflammatory skin conditions, such as eczema and psoriasis, by reducing redness, irritation, and itching. It is typically prescribed when over-the-counter treatments are ineffective.

Betnovate Scalp works by inhibiting the release of inflammatory chemicals in the skin. The corticosteroid betamethasone penetrates the skin and reduces the inflammation that causes symptoms like redness, itching, and irritation. The treatment provides relief from the discomfort of scalp conditions by calming inflammation and irritation effectively.

• • Ensure the scalp is clean and dry before application.
  • Squeeze the bottle to cover the area with a thin, even layer.
  • Gently rub the solution in, but it is not necessary to massage it in thoroughly.
  • Allow the solution to dry before wearing clothing.
  • Do not use a hairdryer directly after application, and avoid heat sources.
  • Continue using moisturisers or emollients to keep the scalp healthy.

    For adults (18 years and older), apply Betnovate Scalp to the affected areas of the scalp twice daily — once in the morning and once at night.

Common side effects may include:

• Burning, irritation, or itching at the application site
• Stretch marks or skin thinning
• Increased hair growth or changes in skin pigmentation
• Weight gain or a rounded face
• High blood pressure

Serious side effects, although rare, may include:

• Worsening of skin condition or swelling
• Signs of infection (pus-filled blisters or open sores)
• Pustular psoriasis (raised, pus-filled bumps under the skin)

If you experience any of these, stop using the treatment and consult your doctor.

• Allergic Reactions: Do not use Betnovate Scalp if you are allergic to betamethasone valerate or any of the other ingredients.
• Skin Infections: Avoid applying Betnovate to areas with an active skin infection or open wounds.
• Children: Not recommended for use in children.
• Steroid Sensitivity: If you have had an allergic reaction to other steroids or are applying the treatment under an airtight dressing, consult your doctor first.
