Hana is a daily oral contraceptive that uses desogestrel, a synthetic version of the hormone progesterone, to provide over 99% protection against pregnancy when used correctly. It is suitable for women who are breastfeeding, those who cannot tolerate oestrogen, and those seeking a simple, prescription-free option.

Hana prevents pregnancy through two mechanisms:

1. Inhibiting Ovulation: Stops the ovaries from releasing eggs.
2. Thickening Cervical Mucus: Makes it more difficult for sperm to reach an egg.

This dual action ensures effective protection when the pill is taken consistently every day without a break between packs.

• Take one tablet daily at the same time each day, following the pack's labelled days and arrows.
• Do not take a break between packs, even if you experience bleeding.
• If you miss a pill or start a pack late, refer to the enclosed leaflet for guidance.
• Store Hana at temperatures below 30°C and dispose of unused medicine responsibly.

Common (up to 1 in 10 women):

• Mood changes, including depression
• Headache
• Nausea or acne
• Breast tenderness
• Irregular or absent periods

Uncommon (up to 1 in 100 women):

• Vaginal infection
• Hair loss
• Vomiting
• Painful periods or ovarian cysts

Rare (up to 1 in 1,000 women):

• Rash, hives, or skin lumps
• Breast leakage
