Frequently Asked Questions for Skinoren

What is Skinoren Cream?

Skinoren is a topical treatment for mild to moderate acne, containing 20% azelaic acid. It targets acne on the face, chest, and back, improving skin clarity and reducing pigmentation.

How Does Skinoren Work?

  • Kills bacteria: Targets acne-causing bacteria, P.acnes.
  • Unclogs pores: Reduces skin cell buildup to prevent whiteheads and blackheads.
  • Calms inflammation: Soothes sebaceous glands, reducing redness and irritation.
  • Reduces pigmentation: Ideal for darker skin tones prone to post-acne marks.

How to Use Skinoren Cream

  1. Wash and dry affected areas with water.
  2. Apply a thin layer twice daily (morning and evening).
  3. Use approximately 2.5cm of cream for the face; more for larger areas like the back or chest.
  4. If you have sensitive skin, start with once-daily application for the first week, then increase to twice daily.
  5. Do not use for longer than 12 months continuously.

Side Effects

  • Common: Itching, redness, or burning at the application site (more than 1 in 10).
  • Less common: Pain, dryness, discolouration, or scaling (up to 1 in 10).
  • Reduce application frequency or stop temporarily if irritation occurs.

Warnings and Precautions

  • Avoid if allergic to azelaic acid or any other ingredient.
  • For external use only; avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes.
  • Consult a doctor if no improvement is seen after several months of use.
