Soolantra

Soolantra is a once-daily prescription cream designed to treat rosacea symptoms such as papules, pustules, and redness. The active ingredient, ivermectin, is part of the avermectin class of medicines, offering both anti-inflammatory benefits and parasite control, including demodex mites, which can contribute to rosacea.

Soolantra cream works through its key active ingredient, ivermectin, which:

• Reduces inflammation in the skin to alleviate redness and swelling.
• Targets and eliminates demodex mites, parasites linked to skin irritation and rosacea.
• Helps clear rosacea symptoms over several weeks with consistent use.

• Apply a pea-sized amount of cream to each area of the face (forehead, chin, nose, and cheeks) once daily.
• Spread thinly and evenly over the entire face, avoiding the eyes, lips, and mouth.
• Wash hands thoroughly after application.
• If using Mirvaso, apply Mirvaso first, let it dry, and then use Soolantra.
• Continue treatment for 8–12 weeks, assessing improvement. If rosacea clears, continue until week 16 or as advised by a doctor.

Most people tolerate Soolantra well, but possible side effects include:

• Slight burning sensation (up to 1 in 10 users) upon application, which usually subsides.
• Temporary worsening of rosacea during the first week due to the reaction to dying demodex mites.
