Frequently Asked Questions for Lumigan Eyelash Serum

Info

What is Lumigan®?

Lumigan® 0.03% (bimatoprost) is a prescription-only prostaglandin analogue used to reduce intraocular pressure in patients with conditions such as ocular hypertension and open-angle glaucoma. It works by increasing the outflow of fluid from the eye, helping to lower pressure and prevent damage to the optic nerve.

This version is provided as a unit dose, meaning it contains preservative-free single-use vials for those who may be sensitive to preservatives in multi-dose eye drops.

Key Features:

  • Active ingredient: Bimatoprost 0.3 mg/ml (0.03%)

  • Form: Preservative-free unit dose vials

  • Usage: Once daily (as directed by your clinician)

  • Licensed use: Reduction of elevated intraocular pressure in adults with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension

  • Packaging: Typically supplied in packs of 30 single-use containers

Off-label Use Notice

Bimatoprost 0.03% may also be prescribed off-label for other indications such as cosmetic eyelash enhancement, but this is not part of its MHRA-licensed use. Such prescribing is at the discretion of the clinician following a consultation, and only when they determine it is appropriate and safe for the individual.

⚠️ As with all prescription medicines, off-label use is only permitted when clinically justified and supported by the prescriber's professional judgement.

How to Use

  • Apply one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening, or as prescribed.

  • For off-label use (e.g., eyelash growth), application instructions will be provided if appropriate following a consultation.

  • Use immediately after opening a single-dose container. Discard any unused solution.

Who Can Prescribe This?

Lumigan® 0.03% can only be prescribed by a licensed UK prescriber following a clinical assessment. This treatment is not available over-the-counter and must be dispensed by a UK-registered pharmacy.
