Symbicort Turbohaler

Symbicort Turbohaler is a combination inhaler that contains two active ingredients: budesonide, a corticosteroid, and formoterol, a long-acting beta2 agonist (bronchodilator). It is used to prevent asthma attacks and improve breathing by reducing inflammation and relaxing the muscles in the airways.

• Formoterol works by relaxing the muscles in the airways, making it easier to breathe.
  Together, these medications work to prevent asthma flare-ups and manage symptoms, allowing for better control of asthma.

1. Preparation: Unscrew the cover and remove it. Hold the inhaler upright with the red grip at the bottom.
2. Loading the Dose: Turn the red grip fully in one direction, then in the opposite direction until you hear a 'click' sound. This loads the inhaler with the medicine.
3. Inhalation: Exhale fully, then place the mouthpiece between your teeth, close your lips, and inhale deeply through your mouth.
4. Second Dose: If a second dose is required, repeat the process.
5. After Use: Rinse your mouth with water to reduce the risk of oral thrush, and replace the cover on the inhaler.

Common side effects (affecting 1 in 10 people):

• Palpitations, trembling, or shaking
• Oral thrush
• Headache
• Sore throat, hoarse voice, or coughing

Less common side effects:

• Nausea
• Sleep disturbances
• Restlessness or agitation
• Dizziness or blurred vision
• Muscle cramps

Serious side effects (seek immediate medical attention if experienced):

• Swelling of the face, hives, difficulty breathing, or fainting
• Sudden wheezing or shortness of breath after use
