Frequently Asked Questions for Indivina

What Does Indivina Treat?

Indivina is designed to relieve symptoms associated with menopause and help improve quality of life, including:

  • Physical Symptoms:

    • Hot flushes and night sweats
    • Vaginal dryness
    • Headaches
    • Fragile bones (osteoporosis)
  • Emotional & Cognitive Symptoms:

    • Low mood or anxiety
    • Reduced libido
    • Trouble concentrating or memory issues

How Does Indivina Work?

Indivina contains two active ingredients:

  1. Estradiol (Oestrogen): Replaces the oestrogen that decreases naturally during menopause, alleviating symptoms like hot flushes, mood swings, and bone fragility.
  2. Medroxyprogesterone Acetate (Progesterone): Protects the uterine lining from overgrowth, reducing the risk of endometrial cancer in women with an intact uterus.

Together, these hormones mimic natural hormonal balance, easing menopausal symptoms effectively.

Dosage and Instructions

  • Indivina Dosage:

    • Take 1 tablet daily at the same time each day.
    • Do not take a break between packs.
  • How to Use:

    1. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water.
    2. Each tablet is marked with the days of the week to help you remember to take them.
    3. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it’s almost time for your next dose.

Note: It is normal to experience irregular bleeding during the first 3 months. If this continues beyond three months, consult your doctor.

Benefits of Indivina

  1. Relief of Menopausal Symptoms: Effectively alleviates hot flushes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness.
  2. Bone Health: Reduces the risk of osteoporosis by maintaining bone density.
  3. Convenient Dosing: Simple, daily tablet regimen without interruptions.
  4. Uterine Protection: Combines oestrogen and progesterone to protect against uterine complications.

Side Effects

Like other HRTs, Indivina may cause side effects, especially in the first few months. Common side effects include:

  • Weight changes
  • Swelling due to fluid retention
  • Headache or dizziness
  • Breast tenderness or pain
  • Vaginal discharge or spotting
  • Nausea, vomiting, or stomach cramps

Severe Side Effects (Seek Medical Attention):

  • Unexplained vaginal bleeding
  • Signs of a blood clot (e.g., leg pain/swelling, chest pain, difficulty breathing)
  • Symptoms of a stroke (e.g., sudden numbness, difficulty speaking)

Note: Most side effects subside after a few months. Speak to your doctor if they persist or worsen.

Warnings and Precautions

Do Not Use Indivina If You Have:

  • A history of breast, ovarian, or uterine cancer.
  • Blood clotting disorders or previous blood clots.
  • Unexplained vaginal bleeding or untreated endometrial hyperplasia.
  • Recent heart attack, stroke, or angina.

Consult Your Doctor If You Have:

  • Uterine fibroids, endometriosis, or high blood pressure.
  • Liver, kidney, or heart disorders.
  • Diabetes, migraines, or asthma.
  • Gallstones or thyroid problems.

Indivina Risks

Research indicates that combined HRT like Indivina slightly increases the risk of developing:

  1. Breast Cancer: Risk increases with prolonged use but returns to normal within five years after stopping HRT.
  2. Ovarian Cancer: A slight increase in risk during HRT use.

To minimise risks, use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration.
Taking HRT, including Indivina, increases your risk of:

  • Blood Clots: HRT can triple the risk of clots forming in the legs or lungs.
  • Stroke: HRT makes you 1.5 times more likely to experience a stroke.

If you experience symptoms of a blood clot or stroke, seek medical attention immediately.

  • Indivina is not suitable for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • If you become pregnant while taking Indivina, stop immediately and contact your doctor.
