Sandrena Gel

Sandrena Gel is an oestrogen-based HRT containing estradiol hemihydrate, a form of oestrogen identical to the hormone naturally produced by the ovaries. It is designed to replenish declining oestrogen levels during menopause, providing relief from various menopausal symptoms. Sandrena Gel is available in single-dose sachets for convenient and precise application.

During menopause, oestrogen levels drop, leading to symptoms such as hot flushes, mood changes, and vaginal discomfort. Sandrena Gel works by delivering estradiol through the skin into the bloodstream. The alcohol-based formula ensures quick absorption, increasing oestrogen levels and effectively reducing menopausal symptoms.

1. Application Areas: Apply to clean, dry skin on the thighs or lower body. Rotate application sites daily. Avoid the breasts, face, and irritated or broken skin.
2. Method: Spread the gel evenly over an area 1–2 times the size of your hand. Allow it to dry before covering with clothing. Do not wash the area for at least an hour after application.
3. Hands: Wash your hands thoroughly after each use.
4. Dosage: Use as prescribed by your GP. Women with an intact uterus should also take a progesterone HRT to minimise risks associated with oestrogen-only therapy.

Common side effects include:

• Itching or rash on the skin
• Increased sweating
• Breast tenderness
• Swelling in the legs or feet
• Nausea, abdominal discomfort, or headaches
• Dizziness or mood changes
• Irregular bleeding
  Rare but serious side effects include blood clots or symptoms of cancer. Contact your GP immediately if severe side effects occur.

• Do not use Sandrena Gel if you:
  • Have or have had oestrogen-sensitive cancers.
  • Have a history of blood clots, liver disease, or clotting disorders.
• Consult your GP if you have:
  • Fibroids, endometriosis, diabetes, or high blood pressure.
  • Gallstones, migraines, or kidney problems.
• Monitor Your Health: Regularly attend GP check-ups, including breast screenings and blood pressure tests.
